Surrealism This project was rather difficult but the end result was very rewarding. We had to work within a particular style, either Surrealism, Expressionism, Cubism or Pop Art. I chose Surrealism. Below is the final image. These are all taken from photographs, the actual image was 18x24 so it was too large to scan. The actual Final Image is not posted. There is a Photoshop version below, that I used to put in a background only to test colors, before I applied them to the actual image. The image was created using oil pastels, something I've never used before, so the actual time it took to complete the image was about 5 days. There was lots of experimentation, and hurdles to overcome, but this is by far the best piece I've done in school to this date. There is a lot of symbolism and meaning to the piece. I will add that later, when I get a chance to post the final image.
Pencil Drawing (barely visible unfortunately)
Just a closer shot of the Astrolabe/Sundial before the pastels were applied. I mixed two old instruments of time and measurement, the Astrolabe and Sundial to enhance some of the meaning/purpose behind the content of the piece
Here I'm putting Pastels over my marker work
Larger view of the piece, after the Sundial/Astrolabe has had its oil pastel applied
Final Image (well, almost) This is the photoshop version with a quickly drawn background to test colors. My final image will be posted when I receive it from the teacher. The actual final image is very very close to the one below.
